Meetings are held at the Abbey Baptist Church, Abbey Square, commencing at 7.00 p.m.

NOTICES

• We have a few speakers for the January Short Talks – however, more are always welcome! Please contact either myself or a member of the committee if you would like to speak.
• Please can you bring items that you wish to submit for the club auction to the next meeting. These should be presented to a committee member, along with any Sale instructions and (ideally) a short description. The Clubs commission will be 10%. FEW OR NO LOTS MEANS NO AUCTION!

Winter Social – 26^th November

Once again this year, the Winter Social took the form of a Christmas meal at the Hatched Gate Inn in Burghfield. No snow to battle with this year, and twenty-two of us enjoyed the meal, and were greeted by a warm and friendly staff, and a few familiar faces! The high standard of last year was maintained and good food and good company were had by all, and we thank the Hatched Gate for hosting us.

Winter Bourse – 5^th December

The Winter Bourse was a great success as usual, with a number of additional dealer tables set out, and some lovely numismatic items for sale and on display – prices ranging from 10p to £1,600!

Henry’s feast proved very popular as always, and we thank him very much for his efforts.

Finally, we all taxed the grey-matter with Gavin’s annual numismatic quiz. This year, the questions were (supposedly!) somewhat easier than previous normal, including “Which country was the first to issue nickel coins and when?” The full questions and answers can be found below! We congratulate Neil Beaton, who was the top scorers with 13 out of a maximum of 20 – I make that three years in a row… Perhaps a handicap next year?!

Thank you very much to the 24 members who attended, making the evening very enjoyable.
